Hippiebowls and UFC

Hello mes amis!

I've made a little resume of my weekend in pictures. Everything from training, to BBQ, to giving class, to having my fam visiting, to hippiebowls to watching the UFC fights (omg btw, excellent card!)....

...I just realized I was trying to show you all the different things I did, but a lot was fighting related lol. Like a true nerd.

We had lunch at a great place in 90, Boulevard st. Germain called Lou Lou, here with my hippiebowl. Surprisingly good. Non vegan places in Paris usually serve you like a bowl of lettuce if you ask for something vegan.

When I came home I snuggled with ma man, and later we had the guys from the team coming over to watch the UFC. The fights where AWESOME!!  Real wars from start til finish, except for Woodley and Maia's fight, that was a sleeping pill for me at 7:am in the morning. Luckily the boys woke me up to the grand finale -Jones and Cormier. I'll tell you this about that fight: No matter how much of a douche Jones is, it's a fucking joy to see him fight. However my heart broke in like 20 pieces for Cormier. Other then that, the female fights were also really good, I like how poised Cyborg was and how clean her fighting was, even tho it took her some more time (then usual) to finish her opponent.

 SUNDAY

I hooked up with m family around Concorde and we had a little stroll and stopped for some ice cream. Before I did not have a second look at the sorbet ice creams, I thought they where completely ridiculous, made out of like water and fruit. And now I kind of had to rethink that since regular ice cream is not optional. Happily surprised I must say. They had a chocolate one that was AWEsome!

100% Vegan

Long time no seen my friends!

I just had a sudden inspiration to write again. This due to me having questioned  myself and my choices for a while, as well as getting multiple questions regarding going vegan.

A quick background to this:

Remember I became a 70% vegan a year ago?  I explain the reasons in this post: http://www.camilarivarola.com/blog/2016/9/21/changes

Well it worked like a charm, I had the perfect balance, it was surprisingly EASY!

...and then the documentary "What the health" on Netflix happened to me, or US I should say. I had encouraged my boyfriend to watch it as well, and as soon as he did, he called me and said "its finished, I'm done eating meat".

I was a bit hesitant being that extreme. do you want to know the reason why?

Its called ice cream. I did not trust myself keeping away from ice cream! Trust me, its not the meat or the cheese, it's the ice cream!!! (Chocolate is not a big problem, I like dark chocolate so I find plenty at the supermarket).

So I said no at first. YEeeeeS, because of Haagen dazs and Ben & Jerry's.... pathetic I know, but to me that's orgasm in box. So you understand why so reluctant right?

Waiting impatiently for this...  #NONDIARY

Waiting impatiently for this...  #NONDIARY

Until then, my vegan chunky monkey Ice cream! Recipe on my Instagram!

Until then, my vegan chunky monkey Ice cream! Recipe on my Instagram!

However, eventually, after having my first ice cream after seeing the documentary, I decided to go fully vegan. The reason? It's ironic, but it was actually because of the ice cream.

I could not stop thinking about the amounts of pus and hormones that milk contains! I was so traumatized by the documentary, I could not enjoy the ice cream fully (I enjoyed it a little to be honest, but just a little...). After that we went on vacation and the only time we had animal products was twice (in two weeks) which was when we where invited to dinner, and another time where there where ZERO options. I'm still an athlete and I was training during my vacation, so I couldn't be eating lettuce...

So there you go. I've changed it up again.

I feel great, I make sure I eat everything I need, I haven't lost any muscle - quite the contrary, and my weight is still super stable. Only benefits.

Strong as an ox

Strong as an ox

On top of that I'm changing my egocentric attitude to veganism. I used to do it for me mostly, for MY benefit. But frankly, when you keep learning more about the intelligence of animals as well as their emotional capacity, it gets harder and harder to turn your head away as we learn to do when we're infants.

I recommend watching this to help you gain some perspective: https://youtu.be/y9KeyKVuLHU . Animals are freakin brilliant. You cannot disagree.

Also watch the film "Okja" on Netflix. It is a brilliant kick in the nuts on the meat industry! Very well made, NOT a documentary, VERY entertaining (I cried like a baby to a couple of scenes tho. Like shaking while trying to hold it in....).

In the next post I'll talk more about food and some tricks to make you're everyday life work. I will also introduce you to a group of girls that are doing their first vegan week, very inspiring girls for those of you who are thinking of trying it out! Stay tuned!

WE CAN BOX

Through Talent Trainer, the agency that I work with in Paris, I've had the opportunity to meet this group of such incredible people that are so complementary in every way!

What started off as the idea of a concept, resulted in the realisation of this magnificent weekend that we decided to call #WECANBOX

As the name states, the boxing/kickboxing classes are essential to the program. But there is so much more to this weekend:

We want people to be inspired to try new things, step out of their comfort zones, to feel inspired to take on life in different ways. Simply put: to nourish mind body and soul.

Therefor, to complement the boxing classes we do Yoga and meditation with the excellent coach Louise Duby @wellnessbylouise. Trust me she is not your ordinary yoga teacher! Louise also does all the cooking for the weekend, obviously healthy and organic food. You can expect cosy dinners, great breakfasts and a spectacular brunch at the end of the weekend!

4 times world champion, and former UFC fighter Cyrille Diabat√© gives a seminar on mental strength. This seminar will help you see yourself in a different light, as well as give you the tools to make positive changes in your life.

French Kelly Bessis @kellybessis is an inspiration to many because of the interesting life journey she's made. She has used sports as well as mental strength and awareness to radically change her life for the better. A true guru I'd say! Besides being this amazing person,  she is also a heck of an organizer, and without her this project would not have fallen into place.

So all these great people and and activities come together in a chateau from 1800th century that left us all speechless when we saw it the first time! Barely 2 hours from Paris, in Bourgogne you can find this treasure. If you can't find some inner peace and serenity here... well it's just not possible. Even the girls with jobs that shoot their stress levels through the roof felt the serenity pretty instantly and managed to feel relaxed.

To give you a short summary of what this weekend consiss of here's a little schedule followed by a bunch of pictures (Note that the times on the schedule aren't exact. This weekend is made for YOU, and we want you to fully relax and feel at ease . There is nothing mandatory but you'll notice that is a pretty good set up as the weekend goes along!):

5 minute peanut butter chocolate cookie dough

Either eat these little balls simply like shown on the picture, or put them in your vanilla "Nice cream" (I'll share recipe soon),

If you're a B&J cookie dough lover it's A W E S O M E.

I used almond flour instead of oats. I also put a larger amount of oats, but that's just a matter of taste. I had a piece of dark chocolate at home that I used. Like 85%.  oh and I used hazelnut milk.

The recipe contains coconut sugar, which is cool and all, but really it's not thaaat much better than regular sugar (I've been reading about a bunch of articles about it, it's promoted to be a super product like coconut oil when it really isn't). I'd recommend using dates instead. Just squish them nicely and blend them in the mixture.

What I love about this recipe is that it's so simple to go by eye measurements. Plus you can tweak it as you go along. I rarely make any dishes exactly as a recipe, theyre just inspiration.

Here you go!

Pre training

Paris is H O T today! I'm so happy, I worship the sun and heat.

Speaking of nothing, My bf and I where watching the Fights from UFC 211 today, I rarely manage to stay awake when the fights are in America (they're at like 6am in Europe). No can do, I try but at one point my body is like "f*** the workd* and shuts down. Boom. Grenade sleep. As always, Joanna pretty damn excellent. And I definitely wanna see Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier have another go at it. Such an entertaining fight until the stoppage!

Now I'm having a little pick me up coffee, and lots of water before training. Wrestling then grappling!

Ciao!

Long time no seen!

Ah ma gaaad!! It's been like forever!

It feels like catching up with an old friend that you want to tell everything and you don't know where to start!

Like maybe my fight a week ago? Or that I've found some new inspiration for cooking? I do this really weird thing when I'm on a diet: some people might call it torture, but when I'm dieting that's when I look for new recipes! It's kinda sick I know. My friends always laugh at me cause they see me liking the SHIT out of Instagram food accounts. It works for me ok, don't judge!

Anyways, I'll let the photos leading up to the fight and some pics from the D day do the talking:

Stripping at the weighins

52,25kg (fight was at 53kg) so obviously I had no problem making weight. However, I will let you in on what happened before though: like 4 days before the fight I was at 54,2. We where like "pffff this is a piece of cake", CHILLIN! Ok, so what happens? I stay on the same weight for 3 days. And I start to stress, cursing at my body for making me go for a couple of more runs than I wanted to. The day of the fight I get my periods, which obviously explains it all. I had completely NOT calculated that being a female would interfere in the weight cut. I had forgotten that I was one, and that I had to keep that little detail in mind... cause otherwise if you control how you eat and train you can pretty much calculate what you'll weigh every day. Fortunately the adjustments where fine, but I was completely dramatic obviously... I'm Latina after all haha

Fighting and fashion!

Hey guys,

Hope you've had a great weekend. I sure did! We had 2 guys from the Snake team fighting at Superior challenge in Stockholm.

Roggy lost on points but he really hurt the guy, leaving his foot prints all over him...unfortunately the guy did a few two many takedowns scoring points and that's what got him the win.

Kevin did the fight of his life probably, taking the belt home and leaving the arena out of breath.

David from Allstars did a great performance winning on points, on the same card. He's tough as nails.

And Frantz from Allstars did a really nice performance in Cage warriors same night. Winning by a RNC.

Impressive fights by all of you congratulations!

 Now...from fighting to fashion!

About 10 days ago I was called to a meeting a modeling agency in Paris, sports models. When I got there, they kind of interviewed me, took my measurements, gave me a contract etc.

I told you that part I think.

What I didn't tell you, is that one of the bookers kind of peeked over at us and she told me that I would actually be perfect for a casting they were doing at the moment.

The client was Yves Rocher, and the casting was the next day.

Being a slight control freak I got to the casting like 30 min early (in my defense you never know with traffic here!), so I took a coffee at a really cosy cafe nearby the studio where the casting was held. It's called Maison Plisson.

IMG_1532.JPG
IMG_1531.JPG

I get to the casting and most of the girls waiting are definitely model looking girls, you know tall skinny etc. My petite muscular self kind of stuck out hehe.

Walking out of there it felt good. And a few days later I received an email saying I was on a shortlist for the role. But there was one little problem: I wasn't going to be there for the call back!

Fortunately my agency called and said that the director wanted to do a skype meeting with me, knowing I was in Sweden.

So with Cyrille holding my phone, I did some acting in the middle of a restaurant for the director. Omg that must have looked so funny!

Long story short: I got the job!!!! AND we're shooting in Barcelona!

Im so exciteeeeed! I will keep you in the loop friendos!

Diet foods

Some of the stuff I had while on a diet:

Tofu fried in chili garlic and Garam masala

Tofu fried in chili garlic and Garam masala

Cucumber, orange peppers and coriander.  Lemon juice and pepper to season it.

Cucumber, orange peppers and coriander.¬† Lemon juice and pepper to season it.

I like to make plenty of different little dishes when I'm on a diet. Makes it slightly more interesting to eat. Also: Coriander is like the shizzle. I feel very sorry for those of you who do not like it. It's fresh, and it gives any salad a great touch!

Doughnut cravings

So this happened:

FullSizeRender.jpg

Cyrille prolonged one week of diet to 9 days, which is fine. I'm just bored of it, plus there will be no like "treat" after I'm done. Normally you get to fight. So this time I want doughnuts. I've had some weird doughnut craving for like 2 weeks...

¬†So how's it going? Ive stagnated a bit at 55,4 kg, but yesterday I didn't train, and the day before I think I ate a bigger amount of food then I should have. Probably because  subconsciously  I counted on having the 2 extra days.

But as you can see, I look healthy, I've been a bit tired after training, but it's completely normal! So it's all good! You'll be hearing more on this after Tuesday!
